Great Fishing in Crested Butte | | |
Fishing in Crested Butte The best fishing rivers are Taylor River and the Gunnison River. You do need a fishing license. There are also two large lakes- Taylor Lake and Blue Mesa. On Blue Mesa, they do offer ice fishing in the winter. There are lots of local guides, but here are some of the best!:
Irwin Guides:No matter if you are a lifelong angler or casting a fly rod for the first time, our guides will teach you based on your skill set. The feeling of solitude is a major reason many of us choose to enjoy the sport of fly fishing. Irwin Guides is fortunate to have private water opportunities for our guests to experience. With miles of beautiful oxbows and sheltering willows, Tomichi Creek is where you’ll quickly find yourself focused on the pursuit of catching fish instead contemplating your next move based on the traffic of other anglers. This wild brown trout fishery is paradise when it comes to Colorado fly fishing. Split up by beats, this stretch of river remains sustainable with eager fish all summer long. Tomichi Creek reservations are based on availability and water conditions. A rod fee is required to gain access to this section of river. Call us to find out more. 888-475-1851

Group trips are great for wedding parties, family reunions, fishing clubs, fundraisers, or just entertaining a group of friends. Gunnison River Float Trips: From put-in to take-out, float trips are a high action adventure. A custom driftboat or fully rigged raft will be your ticket to beautiful scenery, wildlife, and miles of Rocky Mountain trout water. Beginner to advanced anglers will appreciate the large casting decks, swivel seats, and lean bars that our boats have to offer. Fly fish private water that is only accessible by boat. Stop and walk-wade the productive public stretches. Catch and release lure trips with light tackle are a great way to get into the fish. Walk Wade Trips: Gunnison River Guides offer a vast variety of walk-wade trips on public and private water. We are extremely lucky to have over 2,500 square miles of public land in Gunnison county. The Gunnison, Taylor, and East rivers have excellent public stretches. There are Trophy Trout Fisheries both public and private. Catch "hogs" at the Taylor River Catch and Release or visit a private still water fishery. Maybe hiking to a remote stream or a secluded mountain lake high in the Rocky Mountains is more for you.
