Expect funky, fun and good-natured laughter as people line Crested Butte's Elk Avenue at least four deep to take in the spectacle of the July 4th parade. Stick around downtown for live music, a food court, face painting and old-fashioned games. The 2nd Annual Slip & Slide Party/BBQ is happing! Come out for the best party of the summer. Get ready to slip, slide and BBQ. Please bring beverages and items to grill.

The mission of the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival is to advocate for the preservation and appreciation of wildflowers. This festival began in 1986 through the efforts of a few insightful Crested Butte locals who envisioned a wildflower celebration in one of the most picturesque valleys in Colorado. The Festival has grown into a summer-long season of events with over 300 events offered by over 60 instructors, tour guides and volunteers. Come to Crested Butte to enjoy the beautiful scenery and don’t forget to bring your camera!! Throughout the festival, there will be an array of activities to please everyone. You can choose from 4x4 & van tours, hikes, art classes, birding & butterflies, botany & medicinal lectures, edibles, garden tours, walks, photography classes and much more! July 7 = STEM Camp - Taking Flight- 61 Teocalli Rd.-Kids will learn about aeronautics by making their very own drone and seeing how it can fly. They will also participate in a paper airplane launching competition using all cool knowledge of flight. Ages 7-10.

July 8 = Starry Evening for the Crested Butte Land Trust-- from 5:30 p.m. Our 5th annual Starry Evening Gala will be held at the Center for the Arts in Crested Butte. Featuring a cocktail hour, live music, silent and live auctions, and a delicious catered dinner while you and your guests enjoy the fun company of fellow friends and neighbors who care for the lands and the waterways of Gunnison Valley. It’s a night you won’t want to miss – a fun opportunity to support the Crested Butte Land Trust’s mission to protect our open spaces.

July 12 = Art Camp Day - Portraits and Statues - 140 Blackstock Dr. Crested Butte -Kids will not only learn how to draw portraits but they will also learn some insider tips on how to take their drawings to the next level. Then kids will create their own shiny metal statues.

July 13 = Watercolor and Wine-4:30-7 pm- Center for the Arts at 606 6th St. Crested Butte-A local watercolor artist will guide you (and your wine) through a watercolor painting from start to finish, giving instruction on setting up to paint, wash and watercolor painting techniques. $55
July 14 = STEM Camp Crazy Chemistry-140 Blackstock Dr.-Put your lab coats on and grab your goggles for a day of crazy chemistry experiments. Kids will get to perform multiple chemistry experiments including reactions with sodium acetate
