August 3 = Live! from Mt. Crested Butte Summer Concert Series - Wednesdays at 5:30 pm. CBMR base area
August 3 - Land Trust Field Trip with Coal Creek Watershed Coalition to Gunsight Processing Area- 4-6 p.m--Join staff from Coal Creek Watershed Coalition for a tour of the Gunsight Processing Area and learn about water quality and restoration work.
August 4 = Watercolor & Wine --$55--Local watercolor artist Karen Hill guides you (and your wine) through a watercolor painting from start to finish, giving instruction on setting up to paint, wash and watercolor painting techniques, composition, and more. Wine and beer are provided to participants 21 and older, so you can relax and create! All watercolor supplies and your drinks are included. Absolutely no watercolor experience is necessary!
August 5 = Chamber Music with the Land Trust - 1-2:30 pm -$30- Peanut Lake -A stunning location plays host to even more amazing music. You’ll experience two masterpiece works, by Mozart and Brahms, that represent the pinnacle of both the Classical and Romantic periods. Fingernoise’s all-star lineup performs both works with its trademark infectious energy, virtuosity, and connection with audience members.

August 6th, from 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm at Red Dog Ranch in Crested Butte There will be tents and tables set up at the beautiful Ranch with Crested Butte’s mountains in the backdrop. Top chef Dana Zobs will prepare a six-course meal showcasing locally raised meat, vegetables and fruits picked at the peak of summer. This year, Mountain Roots will honor Jeff Hermanson with the Inspiration Award for his support of local food.

August 7-8: - Crested Butte Open Golf Tournament & Gala
Every summer we come together for two days with one purpose: To raise money so that people with disabilities and their families can experience the life-changing effects of our program. The first day we host 400 people at our evening Gala Dinner, which features a silent auction, a feast prepared by top local chefs, a live auction, and a peppy band for after-dinner dancing. The second day we host 144 people at our famous golf tournament, beginning with breakfast, a shotgun start, lunch and ending with drinks and prizes — all at the beautiful Club at Crested Butte. August 16 - Roller Skate Nights - Get your blades and skates ready! Join Choice Pass for the free youth event at Big Mine Ice Rink. August 16h from 6-9pm. Helmets required. Bring your own roller blades or skates. There will be FREE skate and blade rentals. Parents must sign a waiver for their child to participate.
August 17 = Music on the Mountain - "Soul Rebels" 5:30-7:30 p.m.
August 17 -HCCA Hike: Scarp Ridge — High Country Conservation Advocates- 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.-Rising above Lake Irwin is the very popular Scarp Ridge. A relatively short hike with some climbing gets us to spectacular views of the Elk Mountains and an altitude of 12,200 ft. Please be fully acclimated for your health and enjoyment.
August 18 = Piano in the Garden = World-acclaimed pianist Brian Hsu shares a performance of incredible virtuosity and sensitivity in the most beautiful concert venue you can imagine.

August 22 = SALLY MINER LECTURE SERIES – THE ONLY THREE RUSSIAN COMPOSERS YOU NEED TO KNOW--1-2 pm---Russia is in the news quite a bit today and in a rather unflattering light. That said, Russian history is rich and complex and inseparable from the performing arts. Composers in particular have engaged with Russian culture and politics in a fascinating dance that balances reverence for the past with cynicism. This lecture discusses how the three most important Russian composers were both Western and Russian, and how they subtly took aim at their contemporary politics.

August 25, 27 = Taylor Park Wetland Restoration Project -Volunteers will use low-tech restoration methods to strengthen the resiliency of riparian systems, thereby improving watershed health. Mimicking beaver structures helps attenuate water on the landscape and return complexity to struggling and drying riverscapes, allowing more wetland vegetation to grow.
August 26 = Alexander String Quartet Home Soiree--6-7:30 pm- $200-Don’t miss this opportunity to experience an up-close and personal performance by the famous Alexander String Quartet. They’ll perform works by Dvorak, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, and more.

August 31 - HCCA Hike: Oh-Be-Joyful — High Country Conservation Advocates--8:30 am-3:30 p.m.-Our hike founder, Don Baker, loved to hike Oh-Be-Joyful at the end of each season. We keep with tradition, and hike up this beautiful valley in the Raggeds Wilderness to a lovely lunch spot with spectacular views. A perfect end to our 30th season of HCCA Hikes!
